A vacation like Desire Resorts is never going to be cheap. Sensual luxury costs a bit of money. We are here to help make it as affordable as possible.
Both locations tend to have high occupancy rates year round, so there are rarely big sales. That doesn’t mean there aren’t ways to save.
The most common way to save money is to take advantage of Desire’s annual Black Friday sale. The Friday after Thanksgiving in America, Desire offers a greatly reduced rate for stays in the next year. The fine print and particulars of the sale change each year, but it is usually one of the best discount opportunities all year long. Sometimes the sale runs the entire week of Thanksgiving, some years they won’t let you choose between Pearl or Riviera Maya, and sometimes you have no choice of room category.
This is a less known travel booking site in the USA & Canada but it has some of the best deals for Desire. Have you ever seen a national TV ad campaign for Otel? Nope and that’s because the less they spend on TV commercials the cheaper they can offer their hotel rooms without paying for expensive marketing overhead. Because they offer really good deals they can run out of availability for Desire on the most popular weeks so it is best to book well in advance or be flexible with your travel weeks.
A very popular option is to book through Cheap Caribbean travel agency. Because they are a travel agency, they have access to reduced rates and can pass on part of the savings to you. The savings can be even bigger if you also have them book your flight. They consistently have some of the better rates around though it might not be the lowest rate you find advertised because they have started an expensive TV ad campaign. At least you know Cheap Caribbean isn’t a scam. It is more profitable for them to have a large volume of loyal customers who rebook year after year. This online travel agency has a very solid reputation.
The main Desire website rarely has the cheapest rates but they do have some nice free giveaway if you book 60 days in advance. The free gifts can range from a free SUV airport shuttle, to free massages, or free strawberries & champagne sent to your room. We understand many people don’t feel comfortable using a third party website like Otel or Cheap Caribbean but you can still treat yourself. Just go to the site and click on Giveaways in the menu.
You can shop around for lower resort rates by using the Trivago website. When you use Trivago, make sure to click through to the actual hotels to see the final price and not just the price the Trivago search engine displays. Sometimes there are extra discounts that lower the price. Unfortunately, what happens more often is that extra fees & taxes get added on. Beware of very low rates from overseas websites; the providers might not honor the rate or try to substitute another resort. Be cautious as Trivago includes many of these unreliable & untrustworthy websites in their search results. If the rate seems too good to be true, it probably is. Make sure whatever site you use has a solid reputation.
If you want to book directly with Desire, you can still save money by earning a free private airport ride. You can subscribe our newsletter to know when the resort is offering these special & often unannounced deals.
Many online travel sites offer better discounts than booking with Desire but don’t provide free airport transfers. No worries. There are plenty of great airport transfer companies and if you search on Google you can find the latest discount codes. Our favorite is USA Transfers by Entertainment Plus. They speak perfect English, are super nice and have a fleet of clean & private vans ready to serve you. Warning: the service is so fast that you won’t have time to down a $20 airport margarita before your ride pulls up. Plus, there’s beer and water in your private van in case you are too parched to wait the 20 minute drive to the resort before enjoying a beverage.
If you love massages, you can use the onsite spa, but each service comes with an extra fee. Massages by Claudia is a local massage secret that is shared by veterans. She offers lower rates and great service. Don’t take our word for it; check out her many online reviews. Her “holistic, sensuous & tantric massage” is a huge fan favorite enjoyed by many Desire repeat visitors. Besides giving a great massage she instructs you each on how to massage in a tantric method, so you can keep enjoying it at home. She is a short taxi ride from the resorts and costs less than the (also awesome) couples’ massage at the resort. You can contact her at Touch of Magic
Touched by LNR provides complimentary hour-long erotic workshops at both resort locations. The focus alternates. One day, they teach men how to “worship” the ladies’ ‘yoni’ and another day they teach the ladies to worship her man’s ‘lingam’. The workshops are in the disco during the day with the lights turned low and mattresses placed on the floor and a massage oil bottle for each couple. This is truly an experience not to be missed. They greatly appreciate tips for this complimentary & unforgettable service. They also provide private workshops for a fee.
Ok, this isn’t a money saving suggestion but we need to cover this topic. Desire is an all inclusive resort but that doesn’t include tips. The staff works very hard and will absolutely give you great service regardless of how much you tip or if you don’t tip at all (ahem, you should tip). No need to pay an exchange fee – US dollars are greatly appreciated.
Here are typical tip ranges. Feel free to adjust accordingly.
Airport Driver – $10 – $20 per trip depending on size of group
Bell Hop – $1 to $2 per bag
Housekeeping – $2 to $10 per day depending on room type/size or a big tip at the end of your stay. If you entertain people in your room and leave a big mess, please be extra generous. Leave larger tips with a thank note so they know it is their tip. Otherwise, they might think you are just being careless with your money and not take it. Feel free to ask them for anything, they strive to make you happy.
Bartender – $1-$5 per round depending on number and type of drinks. Some people prefer to give a big tip at the start of their vacation ($20-$50) and skip the daily tipping. This is a smart option if you plan on being naked in the pool and won’t have a pocket to hold tipping money.
Restaurant Wait Staff – $1 to $5 per guest per meal depending on what was involved. Simple breakfast closer to $1, fancy dinner closer to $10 or more if it was extra special like a custom birthday dessert presentation.
Pool Staff – $2 to $5 each day if you want to be more generous, definitely be more generous. The staff are incredibly hard workers & treat all guests amazingly. They will help you set-your chair or pool bed with towels, umbrellas and whatever other help you need.
Entertainment Staff – Amount Varies – The Playmakers are a super friendly bunch of alluring people that work hard to keep you smiling and having a great time. You can join in or just watch the naughty fun. Participation pays off with unforgettable memories like when that muscular, bronzed, god-like specimen walks up to your wife and says in his sultry accent, “I want to dance for you” and she proceeds to giggle with genuine glee while enjoying the hottest re-enactment of that Magic Mike scene before dragging you back to your hotel room for some private hot afternoon fun.
